GEORGETOWN - Mrs. June W. Pettyjohn passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 in the care of her family and Delaware Hospice.
Mrs. June was born in Georgetown on Nov. 6, 1928 to the late George W. and Nettie E. Isaacs White. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Levin White in 1978; her husband, Golda "Bugsy" Pettyjohn Jr. in 2000; and a son, Jeff Pettyjohn in 2001.
June owned and operated the Blue Gold Inn which was originally the Georgetown Bakery, worked for Diamond State Telephone Co and was also a seamstress. She was an avid bridge player and a long-time member of the Sussex Pines Country Club. June and her husband Bugsy were married forty seven years and raised two children. She was a loving, smart, hardworking, strong willed and independent woman who will be missed by many.
She is survived by a son, Dean Pettyjohn of Georgetown; daughter-in-law, Diana Pettyjohn of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Benjamin Pettyjohn, Brooks Pettyjohn, Kathy Pettyjohn and Karen Irvin (Nate); as well as two great-grandchildren, Dane and Emmitt Irvin.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a viewing and visitation. Burial will follow in St. John's United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Art Backus will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
