LEIPSIC, DE - Julia Rebecca Marshall (Leager) died on August 23, 2022.
Julia was born in Sudlersville, Maryland on July 1, 1937; she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Leager and Ethel Holden Leager. She married James Henry Marshall on June 11, 1955 and together they had five children. Along with raising her children, Julia worked for many years at Wells Fargo Bank and Pantry Pride Grocery Store as well as volunteering many years of service to become a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Life Member of the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company.
Julia loved working outdoors and always had a beautiful yard and flower beds full of blooms. During the summer months you could find Henry and Julia enjoying that yard with family and friends sitting under the large maple tree sharing food, playing games, and eating steamed crabs (caught fresh that day from the Leipsic Creek). Julia also enjoyed celebrating holidays with her children and grandchildren, always having Easter Dinner complete with an Easter Egg Hunt, cookouts on the 4th of July and Labor Day and family dinner with gift exchange on Christmas Eve.
Julia is survived by her sons, James Jr. of Clayton, Delaware, Charles of Aiken, South Carolina, and Harry of Leipsic, Delaware; her daughters, Judy Clark of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Nancy Marshall of Magnolia, Delaware; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her sisters, Elizabeth Hay of Sudlersville, Maryland, Doris Schelts of Millington, Maryland, Betty Ervin of Chestertown, Maryland and Helen Whaley of Betterton, Maryland; and her sisters-in-law, Alice Brown and Franny Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Henry Marshall (2013); her brothers, Paul, Earl, Brice, Charles and Clifton Leroy Leager; and her sisters, Mary Glanding and Annie Leager.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna, Delaware where friends and family may visit beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover, Delaware.
