CLAYTON - Judith R. Johnson Wilson, of Clayton, went to her rest at the Delaware Hospice Home, Milford, on June 13, 2011. She was 91. Judy was born to Clarence P. and Kathleen Roberts on Jan. 23, 1920. She took Nurses training and did clinical in Greeneville, Tenn., Orlando, Fla., and Takoma Park, Md., where she met her husband Bennett Johnson and the two of them settled on a farm-in Clayton. She did special-duty nursing until her children were all in school then she returned to full-time work as a nurse. She worked for some time at Wilmington General Hospital and then, to be closer to home, worked at the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill until she retired in 1985 to help care for her grandchildren. Her first love was for God, whom she-worshipped and adored, a very close second was her family who she loved dearly and who were gathered around her until she peacefully was wrapped in Jesus arms of love. She loved helping other people and doing things that made them feel better. After she retired, and in between caring for her grandchildren, she returned to special duty nursing to help give patients a better quality of life until she was well in her eighties. During more recent years she was the backbone of Eternal Life Ministries. She helped people by distributing clothing and food. She loved giving Bible Studies with her husband of later years Charles Wilson. She is survived by three older sisters, Lucile Hawk (99), Mary Nell Crowder (96), and Katherine Small (94); and her brother-in-law, James Small, all of Tennessee; her children, Bennett T. Johnson Jr., Judy Ann Simpson and son-in-law David Simpson, Sharon Cox, Donna Kay Hansen of the Smyrna-Dover area, and Mary Lu Morrow and son-in-law Wayne of Hagerstown, Md.; five step-children to whom she was Mom Judy, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews, and those she loved as if part of her family. Services will be 3 p.m., Friday, June 17, at Matthews–Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901; or to Chester River Home Care and Hospice, 6602 Church Hill Rd. #300, Chestertown, MD 21620.
