Joyce Gruwell Anderson

Anderson, 76 FELTON- Joyce Gruwell Anderson, passed away quietly, on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, in her home. She was born, Jan. 30, 1936 in Milford, Del., to the Late- Ellwood and Florence(Owens) Gruwell. Joyce was a graduate of Harrington High School; then attended the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing, in Wilmington, where she achieved her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1957. She continued to work there for many years. She loved music, giving piano lessons back in the 1970's to several local area children. Joyce enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and knitting. Joyce is survived by her son, Doug Cushing, of Felton; her grandson, Tyler; sister, Martha G. Cook; brother, Owain D. Gruwell; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held 10:30 a.m, Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where family and friends may gather from 10 to10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware,Inc., 700A River Rd., Wilmington, DE 19809-2746.
