Joseph Robert Williamson, 36 NEWARK - Joseph Robert Williamson, 36, of Newark and formerly of Harrington, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010. He was born on Aug. 31, 1973, in Dover. Joseph served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He graduated from University of Delaware with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Joe attended Vidal Sassoon Academy in California and began working in Boston, then Newark as a hairdresser. He greatly enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy, motorcycles, cooking, meditation, playing the guitar, learning, the arts, baseball, jogging and bicycling, traveling, hiking and camping and more than anything loved to make people laugh. He was also an active member of the YMCA. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Zales; and his adopted father, James Williamson. Joseph is survived by his adopted mother, Margaret Williamson; his birth mother, Marian Gentry, both of Harrington; two brothers, Ricky Williamson, and Danny Williamson; a sister, Sherri Williamson; uncles, Wesley Gentry, and Edgar Wroten; aunts, Janice Wroten, and Rita Gentry; nephew, James I. Williamson III; and a niece, Alyssa French and her fiance Kelley Roark. A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Thursday May 13, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE 19934. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
