LANCASTER, Pa. - Joseph R. Hadley, of Lancaster, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at his residence. He was 83.
Born in Fort Wayne, Ind., he was the son of the late Charles R. and Oval (MacIntosh) Hadley.
Mr. Hadley was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed bowling, golf, square dancing and reading.
He was a member of Church of the Apostles UCC.
Mr. Hadley was a dedicated volunteer for Meals on Wheels and organizing the Homestead Community Library.
He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 20 years.
Mr. Hadley was preceded in death by his wives, Marie H. Mansholt Hadley and T. Elizabeth Menge Holly Hadley.
He is survived by a son, Charles R. and his wife Barbara A. Hadley of Dover, Del.; a daughter, Karen S. and her husband Dan Miller of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a stepson, Henry Holly of Winter Springs, Fla.; stepdaughters Deborah Anderson of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Joanne Johnson of Annapolis, Md.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Church of the Apostles UCC, 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster.
Friends will be received after the memorial service at the church.
Interment will be private.
