HOUSTON, Del. - Joseph R. Cotta died on January 2, 2021. Originally from Waterville Maine, the son of the late Claire M. and Blanche (Cote') Cotta.
Joe spent 20 years serving his country in the United States Air Force retiring at Dover, Delaware. After retiring he pursued his passion for radio broadcasting and eventually had his talk show, "Speak Your Piece" using the name Joe Scott as his show name. He enjoyed cooking, bowling, and fishing. He was a self-taught artist and loved painting, which he also had the privilege of teaching an art class. He always enjoyed a stimulating intellectual conversation. He loved animals, especially adopting dogs, and always had room in his home for one more.
He was predeceased in death by his sister, Beverly Galli; and brother, Colby Cotta.
He is survived by his children, Renee' Failing, her husband Boyce, of Delaware, Joseph Cotta Jr. of Alaska, Sabrina Cotta of Delaware, Brigitta Wyatt, her husband Tim of Delaware; two grandchildren, Salina Cotta Tapley, her husband Brian of Delaware, and Carla Dyer of Delaware; five great-grandchildren, Carmen, Rayla and Ramon Burris and Cannon and Sienna Tapley; his three sisters, Patricia Susca of Connecticut, Brenda Rock of Connecticut, Mary Boyer of Texas.
His final resting place will be at The Veterans Cemetery.
