OCEAN VIEW - Joseph P. Lagano Sr., of Ocean View, formerly of Chesapeake City, Md., passed away Friday, March 16, 2007, at his residence, with his family by his side, after a long illness with cancer. He was 69.

Born Feb. 3, 1938, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Mary Lagano.

Mr. Lagano was employed with Occidental Chemical, Delaware City, for 30 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Lagano was dedicated to the Blessed Mother and his Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Lagano.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara L. (Herring) Lagano; six children and their spouses, Joseph and Deborah Lagano Jr., Michael Lagano and Tina Smith, Donna and Eric Miniuk, Frank and Bridget Lagano, Brenda and Joseph Curran and Theresa and Troy Crowson; three sisters, Carmella McGough, Catherine Blansfield and Marie Pettit; one brother, Pasquale Lagano Jr.; a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Jacqueline and William Osowski; 18 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Ann's Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach. Family and friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mr. Lagano's memory to Delaware Hospice Inc., 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
