HARTLY - Joseph Louis Gehringer passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021.
Mr. Gehringer was born on February 13, 1933 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to Frank and Mary Weber Gehringer.
He worked for Playtex for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. Later, going on to work at Super Fresh, Food Lion and other odd jobs. Mr. Gehringer was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Marydel. He enjoyed bowling, softball and taking his grandsons to sporting events.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by wife, Mary Gehringer; siblings, Frank Gehringer, Jr., Ruth Englert, Kathleen Elchelberger, and Anna Mae Crouse.
Mr. Gehringer is survived by, his children, Louise Fibelkorn (Gilbert) of Hartly, Diane Schepens (Neal) of Marydel, Mary Jo Gehringer of Hartly; sisters, Bernadine Tripp, Betty Giambruno and Margaret Hansen; grandchildren, Brian Schepens (Kelly) of Aiken, S.C., Justin Schepens of Roswell, N.M., Bradley Schepens, of Marydel, Del.; great grandchildren, Bryson Schepens, and Owen Schepens both of Aiken, S.C.
Friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, (Rt 10) Dover. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church in Marydel, Delaware. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, in Dover.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
