Joseph Lawrence Lowery, 58
DOVER - Joseph Lawrence Lowery of Dover, formerly of Tilghman, Md., died Monday, June 4, 2007, in Dover. He was 58.
Born July 17, 1948, in Easton, Md., he was the son of the late Charles A. Lowery and Agnes (Cherbonnier) Lowery Lednum.
After attending Talbot County Public Schools in St. Michaels, Md., Mr. Lowery began a lifelong career as a waterman. He received his captain"s license and worked as a charter boat captain for Harrison"s Chesapeake House Restaurant and Sport Fishing Center in Tilghman, until retiring for health reasons.
For the past three years, he resided with his son, Bryan, and his wife, Tabitha, in Dover.
In addition to Bryan and Tabitha, he is survived by his sons, Charles Joseph "CJ" Lowery and his wife Erin of McDaniel, Md., and Kenneth William Lowery and his wife Tanya of Tilghman; two sisters, Dawn Lednum of Claiborne, Md., and Linda Spurry of Sherwood, Md.; a brother, Charles Lowery of Easton; his stepfather, Hunky Lednum of McDaniel; and six grandchildren, Kirby, Zack, Brooke, Patrick, Garrett and Nathaniel, by whom he was affectionately known as "Pop-Pop Toes."
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tilghman United Methodist Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Maryland Waterman"s Association, 1805A Virginia St., Annapolis, MD 21401; or Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton.
