ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Joseph Charles Steele, of Anchorage and Dover, died Feb. 18, 2007, at home. He was 21.
Joe was born March 10, 1985, at Loring Air Force Base, Maine.
Joe moved to Alaska with his family on Oct 18, 1988.
He was a rock star, his family said, and the drummer of "Broken By Fire."
Joe"s passion was his music with which he touched many lives along with his smile, his laugh and his jokes.
"You are our "Rock Star"; "Rock on in Heaven." You will be sadly missed by your family and friends.
Joe is survived by his mother and father, Donna Coward and Joe Steele; his sister, Melissa Steele; nephew, Dakari Johnson; stepfather, Dane Coward; stepmother, Cassie Steele; stepsister, Nicole Coward; stepbrother, Dane Coward; grandparents, Phyllis and Thomas Golding; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; the band "Broken By Fire," John, Mavis and Adam; and step-grandparents, Jean and Chuck Coward.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Sarah Steele; and his loving nephew, Derrick Joseph Tyler.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Providence Alaska Medical Center, Attn: Providence Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit, 3200 Providence Drive, Anchorage, AK 99508, in Memory of Joe Steele Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday in Holy Cross Church, to celebrate his life and his birthday.
