Graybeal MILTON - Jonathan Samuel Graybeal passed away peacefully at his home in Milton, Delaware on June 28, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones. Jon, or Jonny-Man as he was also called, was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was born to Jim and Kathy Graybeal on Feb. 10, 1988 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Del. His early years were spent in Lewes, where his love for the ocean began. Jon was always the first one in the water and the last one out. He eventually became a Special Olympics athlete and won a handful of gold medals for swimming. Jonny began attending the Sussex Consortium when he was 3, and continued there until his graduation in 2009. Many of the staff at the Consortium became part of Jon's extended family. They saw him as his immediate family did, as a boy with a great sense of humor, a huge capacity for love and an appreciation for the finer things in life, like an ice-cold can of soda. He worked throughout his life at various places within Lewes, making many friends along the way. His most recent position was in the day program at Easter Seals. Jonny loved his daily routine there and would wake up with a sense of purpose each day. Jon's greatest joy in life was to be surrounded by his family. He had an amazing sense of comedic timing and would laugh especially loud at jokes made at siblings' expense. Above all, Jonny delighted in the annual family vacation to Western Maryland. He found such peace in nature, whether it was in the mountains or by the ocean. Jonny will be missed more than words can describe. Jon is preceded in death by his grandfather, Melvin Yudelevit. Jon leaves behind his parents, Jim and Kathy Graybeal; his siblings, Kate Cornell and Josh Graybeal; his brother-in-law, Chris Cornell; his nieces, Samantha and Sofie; his nephew, Ben; his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held sometime in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Jon's memory to Autism Delaware, 16394 SamuelPaynter Blvd, Unit 201, Milton, DE 19968.
