John Wilson Barrett, 95 SMYRNA - John Wilson Barrett, 95, of Smyrna, departed this life peacefully on April 17, 2010, at Kent General Hospital with family by his side. He was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Camden, N.J., to the late Clarence and Pauline Barrett. John served in the U.S. Army and shortly after being discharged, he spent 70+ years as an over the road truck driver for various trucking companies throughout Delaware and New Jersey. His last and longest stint being with Mid Atlantic Express Trucking Company out of New Jersey, retiring in 2005. Trucking was his passion. He is survived by his step-daughters, Leona Barrett of Dover, Christine (William) Mosley of Dover; step-son, Harry S. Barrett Sr.; sister, Marion (Robert) Fountain of Dover; brother, Harvey (Marguerite) Barrett of Hartly; six step grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many other relatives and friends. Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 22, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. Letters of condolences can be sent to www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
