FREDERICA - John W. Minner passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Kent General Hospital.
He was born on August 4, 1943, in Milford, Delaware to the late Thomas Leslie Minner and Myrtle Shulties.
Mr. Minner was a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army during Vietnam. He worked for DNREC, retiring from the State of Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife, as a Conservation Tech Manager. He was an avid hunter and outdoors-man. He was even the State Champion for trapshooting for several years.
In addition to his parents; John was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Janet Minner, together 26 years before her passing; daughter, Annette Minner; brother, Thomas "Junior" Minner; and sister, Edith M. Stanislawski.
Mr. Minner is survived by sons, Michael Summerlin of Laurel, Del., Eddie Summerlin and wife, Donna of Romney, W.Va.; brother, Howard Glenn Minner; niece, Victoria Thanos and husband, Teddy; nephew, Orville Carney; grandchildren, Alyssa Summerlin, Wyatt Summerlin, Jessica Hengst, Katie Crist and husband, Arthur Irvin, Sr., Jeffery Minner; great-grandchildren, Clara Faith Irvin and Arthur O'neal Irvin, Jr;
Services will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Del. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contribution be made to John Minner Family or graveside flowers excepted.
