John V. McKinny Jr.

CLAYMONT - John V. "Jack" McKinny Jr., age 68, of Claymont, passed away on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at home after a short illness. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Frances (McDevitt) and John McKinny. He graduated from Msgr. Bonner HS in 1961. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He received his degree in accounting from the University of Delaware. He retired in 1998 from the State of Delaware in the Department of Finance, Thomas Collins bldg., Dover. Jack is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gail; his son, John McDevitt McKinny and his wife Tracy; his two sisters, Helene T. McKinny and Frances M. Gondek and her husband Steven A.; his brother-in-law, Michael Somerville and his wife Marsha; his sister-in-law, Nancy S. Hall, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their thanks to everyone at Compassionate Care for the wonderful loving care they gave Jack over this short time. In lieu of flowers contributions in Jack's name may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805 A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m., at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, where there will be a viewing starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
