FELTON - John Stewart Heitz went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 3, 2016. John was born in Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 8, 1929 to Dell and Nellie Heitz. He retired from General Motors as a skilled trade welder. John loved his country; he served in the military as an MP and was a veteran of the Korean War. He earned numerous awards while serving our country. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an amazing husband, father to three, grandfather to seven, and great-grandfather to five, who he enjoyed spending time with. John was a loyal member to The Church of God for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah, of 54 years, and his three children who will miss him dearly. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Milford Church of God, 500 North Walnut Street, Milford, DE, 19963, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be private for the family at the Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Milford Church of God at the address listed above. Arrangements in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
