HOUSTON - John R. Gleason Jr., of Houston, passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 77. John was born in Harrington, the son of the late John R. Gleason, Sr. and Mary E. Carson Gleason. He worked at Sea Watch for 3 years and worked at Barratts Chapel for 9 years. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and country music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Legates; and a brother, John D. Gleason. He is survived by his step-daughter, Elizabeth Ramirez; four grandchildren, Barbara Smith, Robert Legates, Krystal Prigge-Skaggs and Thomas Prigge; and a brother, Nelson Hill of Sebring, Fla. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main St., Felton, where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
