SEAFORD - John P. "Jack" Thompson of Seaford passed away quietly Friday, April 20, 2007, in Life Care at Lofland Park in Seaford. He was 86.
Mr. Thompson was born in Baltimore, raised in Oxford, Md., and graduated from Easton High School in 1939.
In 1941 he started working for the DuPont Co. in Seaford. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He returned from the service and went back to work for DuPont for 42 years retiring in 1983.
Mr. Thompson was an avid golfer, and a member of the Seaford Golf and Country Club for 57 years, also working there part-time for 36 years as the relief manager.
He was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Seaford and a lifetime member of the American Legion, Seaford.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Rosalie Tarun Thompson, who he married in 1946, after returning from World War II; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John P. Jr. and Kari Thompson, James Thompson and his fiancée, Faye Reynolds, all of Seaford; a daughter, Shaun Thompson and her fiancé, Jeff Solomon of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Ethel Selters of Maitland, Fla.; six grandchildren, Erica Beck and her husband, Joe of Cleburne, Texas, Johnny Thompson III, Caroline Thompson, Garrett Rust of Seaford, Brett Bisbe and his wife, Kym of Cape Coral, Fla. and Taylor Bisbe of Lakeland; and two great-grandchildren, Victoria Bisbe and Cooper Bisbe, both of Cape Coral.
Memorial Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 315 High St., Seaford.
Burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 315 High St., Seaford, DE 19973.
