John Henry 'Lil Buddy' Osborn, 79

BRIDGEVILLE - John Henry "Lil Buddy" Osborn of Bridgeville died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, in his home. He was 79.

Mr. Osborn was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Waynesboro, Ga., son of the late Viola Drisom Smith and Walter Osborn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Mae Osborn; and a brother, Willie "Bill" Osborn.

He is survived by a brother, Sam "Sambo" Osborn of New Jersey; three nephews, Morris Osborn, Charles "Chuck" Osborn, with whom he was closest and his wife, Sharon and Walter Osborn, all of Bridgeville; three nieces, Corey Osborn and Connie Osborn, both of Bridgville and Patricia Osborn Alexander of Newark; a sister-in-law, Betty Osborn Moore of Bridgeville; a son and a daughter-in-law, Ferris Fields Osborn and Brenda of Laurel; two stepdaughters, Barbara McCray, his devoted caretaker and her husband, Ben of Bridgeville and Eliza Tarver of Twin City, Ga.; two stepsons, Charles Pierce of Jacksonville, Fla. and Alfred Pierce of Tampa, Fla.; a step nephew, Dewey Pierce of Dover; three step grandsons, Horace Haynes Jr., whom he reared and loved dearly and his wife, Darline of Seaford, Donta Mitchell of Bridgeville and Cortelius "Corky" Breland and his wife, Cloretta of Ellendale; two step granddaughters, Kendra Federick, who assisted in his care and her husband, Greg of Georgetown; Luchanda Hill-Pierrot, who resided with him and cared for him until his death and her husband, Tim; eight step great-grandchildren and a host of grand nieces, nephews and cousins, all of Philadelphia; a host of other relative and friends, four of whom are Daisy Pinder, Lulu Mae Martin, James Dredden and his wife, Barbara and Vernon Flem, all of Bridgeville.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be in Middleford Cemetery, Seaford.
