John Gilbert, Sr. was taken from this world on Friday, August 6, 2021. He was in an accident while on his Harley Davidson through no fault of his own.

Motorcycles being just one of his many passions that also include being a private pilot, Nascar fan, travelling, scuba diving, automotive restorations, and in his younger years boating/fishing, hunting and trapping. His unrelenting work ethic and meticulous detail made his passions easy to see. What was not as visual to the public was his love for family especially that of being a "Pop Pop".

He is survived by his companion of 50 yrs., Marjorie McKinney; son, John Gilbert, Jr.; and only granddaughter, Charlotte; only brother, Woodrow "Buddy" Gilbert; sisters, Edith Wright, Leona Cravens and Eleanor "Woodie" Kimball; Special Aunt, Joanie; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his Life and many accomplishments will be held 10 a.m. at the former Gilberts Auto Repairs, which he owned for 20 years, now "J & S Repairs" at, 1987 Judith Rd., Hartly, DE 19953 on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
