MILFORD - John F. McGuire Jr., formerly of Runnemede, N.J., died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Milford Center, Milford. He was son of the late John and Louisa McGuire, Sr. His brother Phillip preceded him in death. He served in the US Air Force during World War II and worked at Ace Motors in Woodbury, N.J. and was a special Police Officer In Camden, N.J., prior to moving to Delaware. Mr. McGuire worked in maintenance at L.D. Caulk in Milford and was a member of the Milford Blue Hen VFW Post 6483 for twenty five years. He was an honorary member of the Carlisle Fire Company helping with Bingo and the Sunshine Foundation. He loved playing bingo and clipping coupons. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris L. McGuire; sister, Anna Buscio; two nieces, Catherine Darnell, Patricia Jombe; nephew, Thomas Buscio; aunt and uncle, Richard and Elsie Farrell; and their son; his extended family, Missy and Ken Wilcox and their two children, Ben and Seth, who were his adopted grand kids; and many great neighbors, friends and caregivers. Mrs. McGuire would like to thank the VFW Post 6483, Nurses Terry Davis and Anna Mae Wilson Gillespie and all his caregivers and special friends who helped take care of him. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday May 11, 2012, at the VFW Post 6483 off Williamsville Road. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Milford VFW Post 6483, 77 Veterans Circle Memorial Park, Milford, DE 19963. Interment will be Milford Community Cemetery, Milford, DE. Arrangements handled by Berry Short Funeral Home, Milford, DE.
