John Burton Deputy

MILFORD - John Burton Deputy passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 at Milford Center.
Burton was born in Milford, the son of the late Thomas Jay Byard Deputy and Lula (Lank) Deputy. He was raised and lived most of his childhood on a farm with his family in Lincoln. Burton graduated from Milford High School and served in the Army National Guard for 11 years. He was honorably discharged in 1965 with the rank of SPC-4.
Burton worked in the maintenance department with Playtex in Dover for 29 years, retiring several years ago. He was a member of Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge and Milford Senior Center. He enjoyed music, travelling (especially to Nashville), NASCAR and auto racing, and cars, (especially the Chevy Corvette).
In addition to his parents, Burton was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Dickerson; and a brother, Marvin Deputy.
He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Barto of Pennsylvania; eight nieces and nephews; and extended family whom loved him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Homes, 119 NW Front Street, Milford with a time of visitation for family and friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be held privately at Union Church Cemetery in Milford.
