Lewis, 82

MAGNOLIA - John Alexander Lewis, of Magnolia, died Friday, May 25, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 82.

He was born on Feb. 21, 1925, in Jersey City, N.J., son of the late John and Mary Lewis.

He was proud of his time spent in the U.S. Army and Army Air Force and was a veteran of World War II who served in Germany and France.

He received a Good Conduct medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, and the World War II Victory Medal.

John had worked as a machinist for David Kahn"s and also Acme Rivets and Machine Corp.

After living most of his life in different towns in New Jersey he retired in 1988 to Sun City West, Ariz., before moving to Delaware in 2002.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Thomas; and an infant sister, Martha.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marion (Midge nee Lehe); his sons, John, and Alan; his daughter, Debra Jeanne; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Stephen; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with a viewing one hour prior to service.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852-9813.
