Joan McTigue, AKA Mama - Luther Towers, Dover. Joan was called home to be with the Lord on Oct. 9th, 2023 with her daughter by her side.
She had a full life and lived to be 94. Joan was born in Jersey City NJ and attended St. Aloysius grammar, St. Dominic Academy H.S. and Seton Hall. She married her husband John in 1952 and they raised 4 children. She was a kind and giving person and took special care of her mother and brother when the became ill. She was always there to help others. She was an amazing person and the best mom ever.
Joan retired from Emerson Radio Corp. after many years of service and was awarded employee of the year and had the honor of throwing out the first pitch at a Mets game in Shea Stadium where she was being honored. She was always active and went back to work as a front desk mgr. in Kings Court Health Club in NJ . where she worked until she was 86. Joan moved to Delaware to be closer to her daughter and son in law.
She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, John; her brother Joseph; her daughter and son in law, Maureen and John Cassidy; her son in law, Wayne Stanley; and grandson, Robert Stanley.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Lorraine); her daughter, Patricia Stanley; her son, John (Cindy); grandsons, Steven (Maria) Cassidy, Sean (Jennifer) McTigue, Patrick (Ashley) Cassidy; three great granddaughters, Layla Rose Cassidy, Meghan Rose and Molly Claire McTigue.
My special sister in law Kelly and brother in law Steve Leone thank you for your love and kindness for me and mamma.
Special thanks to the volunteers from Meals on Wheels. They were so kind and caring to Mamma. Also thanks and appreciation to the staff and her neighbors at bldg. 3 Luther Village. Mamma loved her time there. She never said Goodbye it was always "TOODELOO".
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 AM, Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023 at The Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 17th 4PM to 7PM at The Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State Street, Dover. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ on Oct, 19, 2023 at 12:00 PM, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ 07031.
