LEWES - Joan Louise Johnston, age 72, of Lewes, passed away on Friday Oct. 1, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Johnston was born on Nov. 17, 1937, daughter of the late George Edwin Griesback and Ethel Ida Lepo Griesback. She was a graduate of Delaware Technical College in Georgetown and worked for 28 years at the Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, retiring as an LPN. After relocating to Pennsylvania she worked at Mercy Health Care Systems in Altoona, Pa. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed establishing and maintaining her fish ponds, watching the Hummingbirds and reading. Her constant companion, her dog 'Sparky' was always at her side, right up to the end. She is survived by her husband, Edgar A. Johnston; sons, Robert K. Warrington of Lewes, James B. Warrington, of Lancaster, Pa., David B. Johnston of Jacksonville, Fla.; her daughter, Ann Elizabeth Jaqot, West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Robert and Jeremy Warrington of Rehoboth Beach, and Risa Jaqot of Jupiter, Fla. and Kristen Johnston of Jacksonville, Fla.; and her devoted friend Doris Shockley. The family extends a special thank you to the Cheer Home Services Staff and all the Staff at Compassionate Care Hospice for their kind and caring support. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Rehoboth Beach Public Library, 226 Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach.
