We are saddened to announce that Joan E. Clark passed away peacefully, on August 11, 2022. She was born on February 4, 1944, in Milford, Delaware, where she was also raised. Joan was the oldest daughter of the late Mary Edna and Josephus Clark, Sr.
Joan attended Benjamin Banneker School from grades 1-9 and William Henry Comprehensive High School from grades 10 to 12. She received her college degree at Delaware State College (now Delaware State University) in Business Education, where her activities included the Business Club and the NEA.
Joan was a teacher in the Milford School District for a year. She relocated to Washington, D.C., where she was employed, for over 35 years, by the National Child Day Care as a Pre-School Teacher.
Joan enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, attending musical shows, dining out, shopping, and dancing. She was very fashionable and a meticulous dresser.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; uncles, William Holmes and Willie Donaldson; brother-in-law, Willie Collins; aunts, Madeline Young and Pearl Taylor; and cousin, Debra Young.
Joan leaves to cherish her memory, siblings, Josephus Clark, Jr. (Joyce), Sharon Ann Collins and Rodney Clark (Estell); her favorite aunt, Catherine Donaldson; favorite nephew, Shawn Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special acknowledgment to her life long-friends, Sherita and Ty Bethel, Charlotte Pinkett, Jean Motley and Georgie Evans.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 12 noon. Mt Enon Baptist Church 600 Church Street Milford, DE 19963. Family and friends may visit two hours prior to the service.
