HOUSTON - Joan M. Wadman went home to her Lord on August 26th, 2023. She was born in Wilmington, daughter of Dr. Brice S. Vallett and Mary Vallett. She joined her husband Laurence E. Wadman, Jr. who went to his Lord on January 16th, 2021. He was born in Wilmington, son of Laurence E. Wadman, Sr. and Dorothy Wadman.
His career as an engineer included working for Dupont, Xerox, Arinc and Chase, primarily in communications. Additionally, Joan and Larry renovated and opened the Follansbee Inn in North Sutton, New Hampshire for 10 years. They then returned to Delaware to enjoy retirement closer to their family. They travelled frequently including internationally and on cruises ending with a 1 month cruise around South America. In 2020 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They attended Avenue Methodist Church in Milford.
Laurence was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, H. Kennedy Wadman; and his sister, Sheridan Young. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Brice S. Vallett, Jr.; and two sisters, Bessie Southwell, and Ruth Dupont.
She is survived by her brother, Richard Vallett. They are survived by their children, Wendy Jones (Stanley), Pembroke, NH, Nancy Oyerly (Philip), Houston, DE, Laurence J. Wadman (Jennifer) Hillsboro, VA and Mary Ellen Hackett (Joseph), Wardensville, WV. They also are survived by 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.
