SEAFORD - Jo Anne Thompson of Seaford, a beautiful spirit, was called home Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, when she departed this life after fighting a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her children and loved ones. She was 62.
Jo Anne was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Catherine Leonard of Purceville, Va.
She completed her education in Arcola, Va.
Jo Anne was employed at Vincent & Vincent Hair Salon before becoming a self-employed boutique owner.
Her hobbies were sewing, baking, crafts and sports.
Jo Anne was a devoted mom and grandmother better known as "Mi Mi," and a loyal Redskins fan.
She was preceded in death by her son, Darin Martin Kauffman; and a sister, Jean Leonard.
She is survived by her devoted friend and fiance, Tom Cook of Seaford; two sons, Kevin Humphrey and his wife Melissa of Dale City, Va., and Daniel Kauffman of Bear; one daughter, Stephanie Kauffman-Gale and her fiance Christopher Lilly of Bear; two brothers, Lawrence Leonard and his wife Suzanne and Richard Leonard, all of Purceville; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Garret, Kaila, Isaiah, Travis, Taylor and MaKena; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be 6 p.m. Friday at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior.
Instead of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
