
Jerry Nicholas 'Nick' Hobbs, Jr., 91
FELTON - Jerry Nicholas "Nick" Hobbs, Jr. passed away at home on Saturday, July 9, 2022 with family by his side.
Born at home in Colesville, MD, he was the son of the late Jerry and Margaret (Baker) Hobbs, Sr.
Nick and his wife began married life as dairy farmers for 12 years in Mt. Pleasant, MD before moving to Felton in 1967 to manage the Central Tractor in Camden, retiring after almost 30 years.
Nick's life revolved around his Christian Faith, family, farming, music and sports. He was a devoted servant of the Lord and a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His children have always and will always believe that they could not have been blessed with a better father. He was known for leading by example and living out his faith through example. He and his late wife will be fondly remembered for hosting Sunday dinners and family/church picnics.
Nick was a member of Manship Chapel where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir and helped in any way needed especially with various building projects. He also played for the church's softball team for many years.
In his younger days, Nick enjoyed participating in local musical theater and choral groups. He also enjoyed gardening, riding horses and playing softball with the Senior Olympics.
In addition to his parents; Nick was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Vonna Eunice (Snyder) Hobbs in 2017; his sisters, whom he spent his life revering, Hilda Thompson, Eveleen Carter and Inez Snow; grandsons, Jeremy Hobbs and Jerry Hobbs, IV; and sister and brothers-in-law, Steve and Barbara Snyder and Frank Bready.
Nick is survived by his children, Eric Hobbs and wife Pam, Jerry Hobbs, III and wife Jennifer, Vickie Tribbitt and husband Bruce all of Viola, Greg Hobbs and wife Lynn and Adam Hobbs and wife Shelley all of Felton; 13 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Nadine Bready, Kristie Marton and Kent, Patty and Jennifer Snyder.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23 at Manship Chapel, 4912 Burnite Mill Road, Felton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of Delaware or Manship Chapel.
