DOVER - Jerome Emerson Bradley, born Dec. 26, 1930 left our world in peace surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday May 6, 2015. He was born in Westchester, Pa., the son of Jerome William and Frances Emerson Bradley, he grew up to become the epitome of Protestant work ethic. After graduating from Camp Hill High School in 1948, "Jerry" attended Wagner College in New York an accounting major, and after completing his junior year, was drafted into the United States Army I Corps in 1952, to serve as a medic in the Korean Conflict, where he quickly excelled to the rank of SSgt. In 1956 Jerry married Marjorie Feller of Forest Hills, N.Y. with whom he raised 2 sons, William Scott and John Emerson Bradley. Aforementioned survivors currently reside in New York. In Oct. 1978, Jerry married the love of his life, Claire Baker Bradley. In turn, Jerry was blessed with two stepsons, Robert and Michael Shlan. Jerry endured a distinguished career in law enforcement with the Waterfront Commission New York Harbor, where he served as a detective on the Organized Crime Task Force from 1962 thru 1988. A devout Presbyterian, over a 50 year period, Jerry served the First Presbyterian Church of Baldwin, NY and from 1991 onward the Presbyterian Church of Dover, as a Trustee and Elder. Jerry also served as President of the Central Delaware Chapter of Habitat for Humanity for 7 years, and had also volunteered at Kent General Hospital for 16 years. He will be deeply missed by the many, many people whom he served, protected, and cared for in times of need in the course of his life. Jerry is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Claire; sons, Scott, John, Mike and Bob; his lovely daughter in laws, Dianne, Karen and Sharon; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Ryan and Joey Shlan, Ayla and Cassidy Bradley and Jenny and Thomas Bradley will miss not only his strength, but also his prolific, detailed, often anecdotal stories of the world that God allowed him to serve. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Interment will be at the Presbyterian Church Cemetery. PER THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY PLEASE WEAR SOMETHING RED AS THIS WAS JERRY'S FAVORITE COLOR. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.
