Jeffrey L. Smith, Jr. 'JJ'
Jeffrey L. Smith, Jr. "JJ", was called home to be with the Lord and earned his wings January 9, 2022. He was born on August 26, 2017 in Milford, Del. to Jeffrey L. Smith and Zekia L. Bolden.
Though his time with his family was short, he touched many lives and was loved deeply by those around him. Jeffrey taught us patience, as he often operated on his own time. If he did not like something he would pretend to be asleep and ignore you, he was actually good at that. Jeffrey taught us what unconditional love is and his energy was like a beacon of light in the darkest of nights. His life was spent surrounded by family, friends, and those he loved. He often enjoyed his time listening to music while having his head rubbed, watching television, and going out for walks in his chair. Jeffrey loved to be cuddled along with his love for plush toys, particularly his SpongeBob bear. His memories and infectious smile will be forever in our hearts. Heaven could not wait and gained a very special addition.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Espen Matthews; and sister, Zhkylah Matthews; great grandparents, Donna Miller, Edmund Benson, William Bolden Jr., and Ernestine Bolden.
Besides his parents; Jeffrey is survived by three sisters, Jerra Perry, Kalani Johnson and Jermonee Bagwell-Smith; two brothers, Kamari Johnson and Zyair Smith; grandparents, Mary Acree, Jeff Smith, Jacqueline Bolden, Ricky Brooks and William Bolden; great grandparents, Dorothy Smith, Willie Miller, Rebecca Benson and Lester Benson; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral service Friday, January 28, 2022, 12 noon at Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, Del.; where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, Del.
A special thank you to UNC Children's Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C. Dr. Elisabeth Dellon, Dr. Neal DeJong and all of their staff. Additionally, we would like to thank the staff of Bayada and Aveanna Health along with all of Jeffrey's caregivers that have been with us through this journey.
