LEWES - Jean Beebe Ingram of Lewes passed away at Harbor Health Care and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007. She was 92.
Born Nov. 9, 1915, in Lewes, she was the daughter of Beebe Medical Center founder the late Dr. James Beebe Sr. and her mother Elsie Beebe.
A graduate of Duke University, Mrs. Ingram was an educator in Lewes Public Schools for 24 years.
She was active in St. Peter's Church, the Lewes Historical Society, and in Girl Scouting.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis F. Ingram; her sisters, Elizabeth Marvel and Margaret "Peg" Williams, and a brother, William Beebe.
She is survived by brothers, James Beebe Jr. and Allen Beebe; a sister, Elsie Swezey; her daughters, Natalie Popham and Jane Thompson, along with Jeffrey Popham and Jay B. Walsh; grandchildren, Sheri Banning Petitte, Richard C. Banning and his wife Danae, and Jane E. Brosseau and her husband William Brosseau; her great-grandchildren, Cole and Cody Petitte, Jeighten, Braelyn, and Seairyn Banning, and Sarah and Katie Brosseau; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, 2nd Street, Lewes.
The family suggests contributions in Jean Beebe Ingram's name to the Beebe School of Nursing, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958; or Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713; or to the Lewes Public Library, Railroad Avenue and Adam Street, Lewes, DE 19958.
