Janet Lee Whitney
MILFORD, Del. - Janet Lee Whitney passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2022.
Janet was born in Milford on April 30, 1938, to the late Harry and Louise (Knipp) Hill, Jr.
Janet was employed by Textile Del. Mills, and retired from BayHealth Milford as a CNA. Janet loved to travel. Her hobbies included baking, gardening, and sewing. Janet was a member of the Red Hat Society and Frederica Senior Center. She was a past member of Frederica Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Carlisle Fire Company Auxiliary.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin W. Whitney; and her aunt, Myrtle Reddy, who raised Janet after the death of her mother.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne B. (Teresa) Whitney of Milford, and son Gregory W. Whitney of Milton; three grandsons, Wayne A. (Jaime Green) Whitney, Hunter A. (Melanie Hunter) Whitney, and Garrett T. (Catie Locco) Whitney.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963. A time of visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Milford Community Cemetery.
