Jane Crowl Milliken, 69

CHURCH HILL, MD - Jane Crowl Milliken, died on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, in Hospice House of Queen Anne's. She was 69. Born on Sept. 27, 1939 in Baltimore, Md. the daughter of the late Dr. James Warfield Crowl and Verna Elizabeth Mears, she lived in Queen Anne's and Kent County all of her life. Mrs. Milliken graduated from Centreville High School, class of 1957 and received her B.S. degree from Longwood College, class of 1961. On Aug. 3, 1963, she married W. James Milliken, of Centreville. Mrs. Milliken taught school at Gunston Girl's School in Centreville and substituted in the Queen Anne's County school system while her family was young. She enjoyed each summer at Broadkill Beach in Delaware with her family all through her life. She volunteered at Easton Memorial Hospital and made over 1380 baby hats and blankets at Kent Co. Hospital. Mrs. Milliken is survived by her husband, W. James Milliken, PhD., of Church Hill, Md.; a daughter, Laura McDevitt and her husband Patrick, of Honey Brook, Pa.; a son, William J. Milliken Jr. and his wife Scarlett, of Centreville, Md.; a sister, Winnie Southworth, of Mechanicsville, Va.; and four grandchildren, Darya and Jack McDevitt, of Honey Brook, Pa., and Gabrielle and Caitlin Milliken, of Centreville, Md. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 408 S. Liberty St., Centreville, Md., where a memorial service will follow at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Queen Anne's, Inc., 255 Comet Dr., Centreville, MD 21617; or Price Bethany United Methodist Church, P.O.
