CAMDEN - Jane Boulden Laws, of Camden, formerly of Newark, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born in Philadelphia on August 4, 1928, and was raised in Cecilton, Md. She graduated from Cecilton High School in 1945, attended Goldey College for a year and graduated from the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. Jane was a compassionate nurse during her career, retiring from Union Hospital in Elkton, Md. She also worked as a nurse at the Governor Bacon Health Center, at Goldey-Beacom College and as a substitute nurse in local schools. Jane enjoyed spending time with her family, doing word search puzzles, walking, dancing, and going to the Modern Maturity Center. She was a life member of the Christiana Fire Company Women's Auxiliary. Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert M. Laws; her parents, Harry and Mayme Boulden; her son, Dennis Laws; her infant sister, Phyllis; brother, Gene Boulden; grandchildren, Joshua, Katherine, and Sean; and her great-granddaughter Peyton. She is survived by her daughter, Patti Sandy and her husband Charles, of Camden; son, Kevin Laws of New Castle; grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, Seth, Michael, John, Ashley, and Keegan; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Adin, Dominic, Presley, and Justine; and a great-grandson due in January; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 14 Glebe Rd, Earleville, MD, 21919, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Galena Cemetery in Galena, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forest Ave., Dover, DE 19904 or to the American Cancer Society.
