Whedbee, 85 LEIPSIC - James E. 'POP' Whedbee, of Leipsic, passed away Friday April 27, 2012, at KGH Bay Health Dover. He was born on March 19, 1927, in Bowers Beach, Del., to the late Robert and Bertha Demondi Whedbee. James was a waterman all his life and was employed with Delaware Storage Pipeline. He served as a Merchant Marine. He was married for 50 years to his late wife, Marie Warrington Whedbee who he loved dearly. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jackie Pleasanton. He is survived by a daughter, Bertha Mae Whedbee of Leipsic; son, Robert and his wife Dawn Whedbee of Hartly; grandchildren, Patricia Carrow and companion Charles Alexander, Debi Oldham, Joyce and her husband Ronald Griffin Sr., R.J. Whedbee; great-grandchildren, Fred Chase, Chris Chase, Ronald Griffin Jr., Ryan Griffin, Lauren Oldham; his special nephew, Joey; his loving nurse, Tonia Saunders, whom he treated like a daughter; his nurse, Ervin Strickland; and his dogs, Jacko and Bear. Private Burial Services will be held. The family request that memorial contributions be given to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713 or The American Cancer Society.
