Buddy lived his brief life from 8/20/1982 until 7/31/2018. He enjoyed hunting, camping and the fire service, working as a gopher at the Delaware State Fire School for many years. He loved people and was usually in the middle of the group, telling a joke and making people laugh. Working at the Wheelhouse Restaurant provided Buddy with a venue to be himself and put a smile on the faces of others.
Buddy was a graduate of Caravel Academy high school and enjoyed playing baseball during his time there. He was an avid reader and would spend time reading to the elementary children to spark their enthusiasm for this as well. He loved old movies and enjoyed listening to the oldies, being able to sing along to most songs on the radio as he traveled. His special friend, Kira, and he lived at the beach, where he worked at the Wheelhouse Restaurant.
Buddy is survived by his parents, Wayne and Joanne Hutchison of Smyrna; and his Godparents, Mary Lou and Bill Wilson, who supported him through his trials and tribulations, regardless of what they may have been. He is also survived by an aunt, Cindy Hutchison; cousins, Lisa and her husband Charlie Baker and Chris, LeAnn and Lauren Jean Slaughter of the Middletown area.
Buddy had a best friend who provided him with unconditional love, Macho, an English Bulldog, whom he treasured. Two groups of close friends were his hunting buddies from Andelot Farm and the gophers from the Fire School. Buddy had friends from school, work, and just acquaintances that he knew and grew to love.
There were three very special children in Buddy's life that, although they were not officially his, he considered them his Godchildren. His friend Mark has Roland and Bella, with whom he shared several camping trips and many hours of enjoyment. Sunday evening dinners were a standing activity at Mark's for many years. Then there was Kendal, his friend Krystal's daughter, who managed to get into mischief with her "Uncle Buddy" whenever possible.
Buddy was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be looking out for those of us that he left behind to be certain we are safe and reminded to look for the best in everyone, as there is always good to be found.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the hall at the Cheswald Fire Company, 371 Main St., Cheswald, DE 19936. Family will receive friends immediately after the service. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Buddy's memory to your local fire department.
