James Tatman, 88

FELTON --James DeWitt Tatman, 88, formerly of Felton, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Ruxton Health of Denton. He was the son of the late Ralph and Hazel (Kates) Tatman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked at Agway in Dover for 20 years before retiring in 1984. After retiring, he worked several years for the Lake Forest School District as a bus driver. The kids that rode his bus affectionately called him "Pop." He was a lifetime member of the Felton Fire Co. and a member of the Felton Methodist Church. He was an avid fox and rabbit hunter. James also enjoyed attending local school sporting events. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise (Messick) Tatman, in 1974; and a sister, Myrtle Wirick in 2006. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Reible and her husband George of Falls Church, Va., and Teresa Wallace and her husband Tony of Greenwood; a son, Kevin Tatman, of Frederica; five grandchildren, Michael Reible, Christine Gray, Katie and Sara Wallace and Ashlie Tatman; and a great-grandson, Charlie Gray. Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford-Harrington Highway, Harrington.
