James Russell Burris

SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - James Russell Burris Sr. died Tuesday, Nov 7, 2017 at his home in Sudlersville, Md.
James R. Burris Sr., was born Aug. 13, 1935 in Golts, Md. the son of the late Henry Arthur Burris and Pearl "Shelts" Burris. Mr. Burris attended school in Sudlersville through the 6th grade before he had to stop his schooling and go to work on the farm. When he was 17, Mr. Burris went to work for the State Highway where he worked for over 25 years as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Burris enjoyed going to the slots with his late wife, Barbara, playing Bingo and working on the farm. He loved tending to his animals and could be seen most mornings driving his tractor into town to have breakfast at Parkside.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Burris in 2016.
He is survived by three daughters, Lori Ann Burris of Elkton, Fla., Tina Bonsall of Bridgeville, Barbara James of Sudlersville, Md.; two sons, Angelo Burris Sr., of Sudlersville, Md., James R. Burris Jr. of Sudlersville, Md.; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and his dogs, Sassey, Rocky and Twister.
A visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fellows Family Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, Md. Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will follow the service in Millington Asbury Cemetery in Millington, Md. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.fhnfuneralhome.com
