FELTON - James R. Cane of Felton died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 60.
Mr. Cane was born in Goldsboro, Md., son of the late Robert and Delema Cane.
He was employed with 3D Auto Repair for many years and was the owner and operator for the past 12 years. He also owned racehorses. His family currently owns five racehorses, and he enjoyed watching them race.
He will be remembered as a hard worker who would give you the shirt off of his back, and a proud family man. Many times he did auto repairs for his customers without immediate reimbursement. He was very kindhearted and enjoyed helping his fellow man without any type of acknowledgement or payment.
In his spare time, he enjoyed going to Atlantic City, N.J., and he enjoyed watching his grandsons race micro sprint cars almost every Friday. He also liked to watched his grandchildren"s baseball, soccer and football games, and even dance and ballet recitals.
Mr. Cane belonged to the Harrington Moose Lodge 534, the U.S. Trotting Association, the Delaware Standardbreed Owners Association, and was a member of the Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey racing associations.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Cane.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Bonnie Cane of Felton; two sons, Robert "Bobby" Cane of Aberdeen, Md. and Jason Corkell of Felton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy A. and Mark Maloney of Harrington, Patty L. Baker and her fiance, Thomas Wallace of Felton and Barbara L. and Timothy Fisher of Houston; three brothers, Allen Cane of Frederica, William Cane of Felton and Lester Cane of Sandtown; a sister, Beverly Blunt of Sandtown; nine grandchildren; and two very dedicated employees whom he thought of as sons, Ronnie Davidson and Robert Davidson.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, Harrington.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
