James Paul 'Jim' Hauck, 65

CAMDEN - James Paul "Jim" Hauck, of Camden, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in the Delaware Veterans Home, Milford. He was 65. Jim was born in Nebraska and moved to Girdletree, Md., at the age of four. He attended school in Snow Hill, Md., and later graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a master's degree in chemical engineering. After entering the Army, he was assigned to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. For 30 years he worked at Calgon in Pittsburgh, Pa. He moved through various positions including plant manager. In addition to working many hours, he still found time to volunteer. He was a great believer in giving back to the community. For over 15 years, he was a volunteer paramedic with the local ambulance. In Pittsburgh and in Dover, he was a member of Rotary. He was still helping to deliver Meals On Wheels prior to entering the Veterans Home. As an avid bicyclist he biked many a mile for charity. He loved to golf and did so at every opportunity. Mostly, Jim liked to be around his family and loved being grandpa. Yes, he was a task master but he wanted us to be the best that we could be. There was never a more honorable man. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Paige; and his parents, Theo and Paul. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Hauck; a son, Christopher James; and a daughter, Alison Anne and her husband Greg and their four children Nicholas, Andrew, Joseph, and Grace; and a brother Byron of Maryland. We will miss him and pray that he is at peace. God bless. A memorial service will be 8 p.m. Friday at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour before services. Burial will be private.
