James Madison Harrison, Jr. (Jim), passed away at his home in Ocean City, Maryland on May 25, 2022. He was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to the late Rachel Nelson Harrison and James Madison Harrison, Sr. on December 27, 1951.
Jim was raised in Princess Anne, Maryland and Dover, Delaware where he graduated from Dover High School in 1969. He attended University of South Carolina and graduated from University of Maryland. He spent most of his adult life in Washington D.C. and retired in Ocean City, Maryland.
Jim was an accomplished graphic artist and was employed by various companies in the Washington D.C. area. He was also an accomplished painter and mixed medium artist and his works were exhibited in New York, Miami, Washington D.C. and Berlin, Maryland.
Jim is survived by his sister, Maggie Armitage (Harrison) and brother-in-law Kevin Armitage from Salisbury Maryland; nephew, Kenny Armitage and partner Kassie Lane from Townsend, Delaware; nephew, Bobby Armitage from Ocean City, Maryland; and great nephews, Colton and Jaxton Armitage from Townsend, Delaware. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Olivia.
Jim loved the beach and relaxing in the sun, he loved the arts - all arts - paintings, music, movies. He heroically fought cancer - in various forms - for much of his life. Unfortunately, cancer finally won. Everyone loved him and he will be missed greatly.
If anyone would like to pay respects, a visitation will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Torbert Funeral Chapel located at 61 Bradford Street, Dover, Delaware at 11 a.m. with internment at Lakeside Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
