James L. Parsons

SALISBURY, MD - James L. "Skip" Parsons, Jr., passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Skip was born in Salisbury, Md., son of the late James L. Sr., and Helen (Jones) Parsons. He worked in the shipping and receiving department of Barcroft Chemical (SPI Pharmaceutical Co.) in Lewes, for 21 years, retiring in 1998. He attended First Baptist Church in Georgetown. Skip enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts, fishing, spending time with his family and traveling. In addition to his parents, Skip is preceded in death by a brother, Elwood Daniel Parsons. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joanne (Walls) Parsons; two sons, James L. "Jamie" Parsons, III, of Massachusetts and Jeremy D. Parsons and wife Kristy, of Milford; three siblings, George "David" Parsons and Mary Evelyn Jestice, both of Laurel and Hilda Jane Baugh, of Florida; five grandchildren, Georgia V., James T., Cody L.J. and Lynn M. Parsons and Rebecca Flaig. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, with visitation after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Emmanuel Tabernacle, c/o First Baptist Church, 20304 Dupont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947.
