James Joseph Mancinelli

MAGNOLIA - Ret. 1SG James Joseph Mancinelli passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 at home.
Mr. Mancinelli was born Jun. 19, 1950 in Olyphant, Pa. to the late Joseph Mancinelli and Theresa Morano Mancinelli.
He entered the United States Army Reserve in 1970 and became AGR in 1979. In 1985, 1SG Mancinelli relocated with his family to Dover for an AGR position with the 261st Signal Command as the Senior Logistics NCO. He was promoted to Master Sergeant in 1986 and was the First Sergeant of HHC 261st Signal Brigade from January 2000 to April 2002, and again from April 2004 until the remainder of his career. He retired in 2005 with over 25 years of service.
Mr. Mancinelli enjoyed hunting and target shooting, but was best known for his love of cooking. He spent his retirement hosting dinners and cookouts at his home and was happiest surrounded by his family and friends. He will be remembered by all for his infectious smile, generosity, compassion and selflessness.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Ann DelleDonne Mancinelli, 2004.
He is survived by daughters, Ashley Mancinelli and her husband Christopher Baviello of Baltimore, Md. and Kerri Mancinelli and her husband Glenn Stitsworth of Townsend; brother, Frank Mancinelli of Panama City, Fla.; sisters, Joan Galenas of Scranton, Pa. and Patricia Anastasio of Camp Hill, Pa.
A viewing will be held from 4-6 PM, Wednesday, Mar. 1, 2017 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30am Saturday, Mar. 4, 2017 in St. Patrick Church, Olyphant, PA. A viewing will be held from 5-7PM, Friday, Mar. 3, 2017 at The Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to USO Delaware, 500 Purple Heart Way, Dover AFB, DE, 19902.
