Jim was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he played electric guitar in the worship band and played on the softball team for many years.

He was a UFC fanatic and loved to watch every UFC fight with his daughter, Rachael, and Randy Sheets, his grandsons' father, who he had loved like a son, mentored, and exposed to BJJ. They never missed a fight.
Jim loved traveling with his family especially to the mountains of Tennessee and Douglas Lake where he loved driving the pontoon boat. He was crazy about going to North Carolina to visit his family.
Jim was a loving, compassionate, caring and fiercely protective family-man who did everything for his wife, daughter and grandson, as well as other family members. He was a huge propionate of helping fellow man, especially the homeless and animal rescues.
