PALM HARBOR, Fla. - James J. Walker of Palm Harbor, formerly of Seaford, Del., passed away of pancreatic cancer, Sunday, April 22, 2007, in his home. He was 51.

Mr. Walker was born in Chester, Pa. and was a resident of Sussex County for most of his life.

He was a former employee of Sussex Tech from 1990 to 2006.

Mr. Walker loved camping, hiking and riding his Harley. He loved working with the Nanticoke dance troupe helping them with their regalia. He had a variety of interests, but most of all he loved to help others. He was an incredible artist and craftsman. He made beautiful drums, some of which he donated to children. He also made beautiful jewelry. He was instrumental in acquiring and donating a rare dugout canoe to the Nanticoke Indian museum and in creating the Nanticoke Indian display at the Seaford Museum.

He was president of STESEA from 2002 to 2006. He was also an associate member of the Nanticoke Indian Association since 1998 and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose North Bay Lodge 2373, formerly a member of the Seaford Lodge.

A celebration of life will be 10 a.m. May 12, at the Nanticoke Powwow Grounds.
