MILLSBORO - James Hollingsworth Jr. of Millsboro died peacefully Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, in the Wilmington Veterans Affairs Hospital. He was 83.

Mr. Hollingsworth was born April 18, 1923, son of the late James and Jane (Athy) Hollingsworth.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Hollingsworth retired as a sergeant first class with the U.S. Army after 23 years of service. Sgt. 1st Class Hollingsworth received numerous awards, including the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one bronze service star, the World War II Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal.

After retirement from the military, he became a heavy equipment operator for the state of Delaware.

Mr. Hollingsworth was a member of the Camp Knox Masonic Lodge 919 in Radford, Ky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeannette Hollingsworth, in 2003.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Yvonne Timmons of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher Street, Frankford.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery.
