DOVER - James G. Halulakos of Dover, passed away peacefully Friday, March 23, 2007, in his home with family. He was 89.
Mr. Halulakos was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Bronx, N.Y., son of the late George and Christina Karanzalos Halulakos.
He was the only son of Greek immigrants who owned the James Restaurant in Woodhaven since 1928. He graduated from Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, Queens, and Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus.
In 1948, Mr. Halulakos began his own insurance business, then expanded to real estate which became the partnership of Halulakos and Wisbauer in 1970. He retired in 1989, but remained active in other business endeavors.
He was a founding member of the Greater Woodhaven Development Corp. since its inception in 1979.
Mr. Halulakos married Kristine Kucharek in 1941. They relocated to Dover in April 1998.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kristine Halulakos; two daughters, Kathy Vaughn and Susan Halulakos, both of Dover; a granddaughter and her husband, Stacy and Ted Marcella of Windsor Locks, Conn.; a grandson, Gregory Vaughn of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a great-granddaughter, Sophie Marcella; a great-grandson, Jack Marcella; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Flo and Ed Wisk of Georgetown; and his old friends and colleagues in New York.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Trader Funeral Home, Dover with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Remembrance service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State St., Dover.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
