James Edward Scheers passed away on Tuesday September 27, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. James, better known as Jimmy, was born September 2, 1946 in Dover, DE to John and Clara Scheers.
A lifelong resident of Dover, DE he proudly served in the United States Army before working for Delaware State News for 37 years. In 1967 he married the love of his life, Katherine Scheers and they had two children.
Jimmy was predeceased by his beloved son, James Edward Scheers, II; brothers, Oscar, Gene, Frank, Clarence; and sister, Margaret.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Scheers; and one daughter, Chelsey Scheers. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Cody Scheers, Riley Scheers, Caylee Scheers, and Olivia Baker. He leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Becky Hodge and Nancy Scheers; brother-in-law, David Hodge; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He loved spending time with his family, in particular his grandchildren whom he cherished. Jimmy touched many lives and always had a story to tell, he will be missed by many.
Family and friends may call at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover from 12-1:30 p.m. on October 7, 2022 and a ceremony will follow at Sharon Hill at 2:30 p.m.
