ELLENDALE - James Edward Abbott, Sr. died at home, on Friday, August 12, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born in Georgetown, Delaware, son of the late Clarence E. Abbott, Sr. and Ida Mae Short- Abbott. Mr. Abbott served in the National Guard and worked for DuPont Nylon Plant in Seaford for 32 years, prior to retirement. His wife Helen Record Abbott, daughter in law Mary Beth Abbott; son in law Bill Johnson and sister Gloria Webb all preceded him in death. He was an avid poker player and enjoyed fishing. He was a family man and loved spending time with his family. He loved them all. He is survived by his three children: James Abbott, Jr., Clark Abbott and wife Jacqui and Linda Carter and husband Scott. Also, several grandchildren and even more great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 1:00 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E Market St. Georgetown, Delaware, where friends may call from 11:00 to 1:00 for a viewing. Interment will be Ellendale Cemetery.
